We have a BMW and the fuel pump went yesterday yet we never drive it poorly nor do we put low grade gas in it except a few times recently. We have no problems except recently with the power windows but its seems odd for a car so young with limited miles for a pump to go. Can someone with knowledge shed some light on this.

it's possible that you consisently let your gas tank get too low before you fill up again. most of us do this . . . we wait until the gas tank is almost empty and then we fill up. this causes little particles at the bottom of your gas tank to get caught up in the fuel pump. it gets clogged, slows down, and eventually dies. sometimes if you know where the fuel pump is located, and you bang on it directly, it might give it some more life. it's happened to me with just about every car i've owned (because i usually wait until i am running on fumes before i go to the gas station). fuel pumps go bad . . . some as early as 50,000 miles. the best thing to do going forward would be to fill up when you hit 1/4 tank instead of empty. (easier said than done).

Some of the BMW's have a problem with the fuel pump and changing the fuel even for a tank full can sometimes bring on problems. With out getting to technical the cheaper fuel will have different octane boosting additives than the higher priced product And this can result in premature failure. BMW don't actually make the pump - they are made by an other company
shouldn't go on any car with that low of mileage
