Will a bmw beat a 87 iroc-z in a race?

the bmw's body is the 325i style but it has the m3 engine in it with headers. and the iroc-z has a 305 with the 350 chip borla catback exaust and stock headers

You have two advantages here; first, you have the advantage of someone who thinks he can make a 305 Chevy go fast without dropping it out of an airplane; that just means he's a squirrel. I don't care what kind of chip he put in his car, the 305 won't get that car out of its own way, even with hi comp pistons, headers and a free flowing intake. The engine is severely restricted because a 305's valves were shrouded. This engine would be lucky to break into the low 200 hp range at very best.

In addition, any decent running M3 engine should put out hp in the high 200's at very least. In a 3 series body, it should do very well against even a moderately tuned 350.

Unless the Camaro has a JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off) bottle under the rear end, put your money on the BMW.

However, be sure that the 325 (which is usually a dog) really HAS an M3 engine rather than someone who CLAIMS to have one just because he mounted headers and a beer can muffler on it. After all, they could both be squirrels, which happens more often than not.
