Time to Buy a New BMW?

I have two questions, please all answer with your opinions. I have a nice Titanium Silver on Black Leather 1997 BMW 540i. Its a great car, Rare options such as Factory GPS Navigation, and the Ski Sack. New Brakes all the way around, and in very nice condition. 150,000 miles. The car was gifted to me and im wondering how much i could get for it in a sale. And how much you think a very base model of a 2002 BMW 325i is? I'm hoping to sell mine and pay the difference on a 325i. Ive seen some 3's as low as $14,000. What do you guys think. Thanks a lot.

i would not sell or get rid of it....but if you do...

make sure it is warranted, you know what you have, with more room in it... (3 series are smaller) but you don't know what you are getting.... plus if they are so cheap why do you think that is? poor dependability, costly repairs etc, check consumer reports....

I would keep the 97 and lower the insurance to bare min. liability and just have two for awhile until you see the 02 is alright and then sell the 97... if you must buy.

If your wanting to just trade up to a newer year then you could do it but a 540i is an awesome car. If your wanting something smaller that is understandable but this car is sweet. Not unless your wanting to go to a 7 series or something like that. I would say keep it but if not I would take it to BMW and before going look it up on Kelly BlueBook to see re-sale value.
personally i thank you should keep the 540. it still looks good, and has more power then the 325. and is alot roomier. i have two 530's one black one silver one 01 and one 03 both have 90,000 miles on them. great cars. i have never had a proble witht them yet. Run like champs. I have a friend that has a 2001 325 and i had to drive it for a day and i hated it. too small not enough power, although it did look nice. I don't know how old you are but if your going to get a 3 series the only two worth getting is an m3 or a 330. stick with the 540. If you ever wanted to spice it up change out the front and rear bumpers and put HID headlights and fog lights in it will look great. And as a gift i'd take it. Way better then the 325 although it the 325 will have less miles... Right??? i say it will have around 60000 at least. dude its up to you. they are both great cars. i have a BMW and land rover shop and we've seen it all...
