Repairs on BMW's?

I'm currently looking at a 1993 325i red BMW and i love it. The only problem is that i hear that getting something fixed on it can get pretty pricey, so i've heard i should stick with toyota or honda. Can anyone tell me how much of a price difference there is? Is it true what i've heard? Thanks for any information!!

I have had 2 Hondas and 5 BMWs. The hourly labor rates are basically the same at the dealerships. My mechanic works on both European and Japanese cars and he charges the same. The parts cost might be a little less for the Japanese cars but not much if any.

It is my experience that BMWs are easier to work on. This means that it takes less labor hours to do most jobs on a BMW compared to other cars I have had which means fewer labor hours to pay for.

I consider reliability on my Hondas and BMWs to be basically the same. My suggestion would be to buy the car you want and enjoy driving. When something breaks you can deal with fixing it and no matter which one you buy, something is going to break every once ina while.

The best thing to do is spend about $80 for a prepurchase inspection for the car you think you are going to buy to determine the mechanical condition of the car before you buy it.
