Should I purchase a 1999 BMW 528i?

I am considering the purchase of a 1999 BMW 528i from a BMW Certified Pre-Owned dealership.

This car is very lovely to behold. However, the leather seats appear just a little worn. The stereo system has also been replaced with another CD system. The car has about 130K miles. The dealership is asking $9600 for the vehicle, which they said was a loaner from the dealership.

Is this a good price? What would be a good ''walkaway'' price for this vehicle?

I am considering an offer of about $8400. Is this too high or too low?

What are the plusses and minuses for such a purchase?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

i got my 2000 528i in absolutely flawless condition for $7200.

it has a 5 yr. 100,000 mile warranty and the car had 97,000 miles when i bought it.

so you CAN find a much better deal.

I'd say $8000 - You will need a new timing chain soon, new belts, hoses, exhaust (maybe), ignition wires, oxygen sensors, brake pads, fluids change (brake, steering, rear end, tranny), fuel canister, among other things. These maintanance costs will be about $600 - if you do the work yourself.
Decent car man. One lesson I've learned is rich cars are for rich people. Doesn't matter if it's new or used-maintenance %26 parts for these cars are hard core. Make sure you have at least 10 to 15G's to blow for fixing it up. Rich people are the first to ditch a car when there's no more warranty.
I bought one 6 months ago and if I could go back in time ...it would stay right there. If you decide to go ahead and buy it, be prepared to put your hand in your pocket.

if the car has 130,000 miles on it, its not even worth it man!! go for a preouned 525i or 530i bmw.
