Buying an bmw e36 m3?liveupdate
Both those people are are on crack. BMW only made an e36 M3 in 95, 97, and 98, (I believe). The 95 M3 came with a 3.0 liter (OBD1) straight 6, while the later e36 m3's came with the 3.2 liter straight 6 engine. These are incredible cars, and if you take care of them, (maintenence on time...), they will treat you well. Everyone told me not to buy my 98 bmw 328is, because they were unreliable and cost too much to maintain. I'll tell you what, I'm 19, work part time, pay for college, pay for my own gas and insurance, and I can afford this car. People hate on BMWs because they have no class, and couldn't afford the car in the first place.
To answer your questions, you can find them, with decent miles, for under 10 grand, (I've seen some for under 7!). The e36 m3 comes with 240 hp, and enough torque to spin the tires for a mile. They are commonly 2 door, and very sporty looking (4 doors were made, but are very rare). There are ways around paying a fortune to maintain the ''Ultimate Driving Machine''. I buy most of my parts off ebay, from recyclers. The dealership wanted $1500 to replace my radiator and my secondary air pump. I bought the parts from a dealer on Ebay, and had them installed, for under $500! And the best part is, unlike a cheap Honda or Toyota (both specialize in making tupperware I believe...), these parts will last until my car dies. It is not uncommon to find BMWs selling with over 200,000 miles on it, for over $2000. I challenge you to find any of those Jap cars selling for that much, with that many miles on it!
