Audi or BMW?

Someone who has experience with these cars whether through friends or personal experience. Use facts because I want to make a decision, please. Well between these two models which is more reliable 05 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro or 05 BMW 525i?

also which cost lower to maintain, insurance ect?

Audi or BMW?ariel

My advice is to avoid both models-- here are the reasons:

1. Audi has horrible depreciation. As soon as you drive out the A6 dealership, you can drive across the street and sell it for about half at the next dealer.

2. Audi updates or facelifts their models every 2 years so a 2006 model is almost already outdated and you won't have the latest model and thus one reason the depreciation is so high.

3. Although BMW keeps their models longer without any major changes, the 5 series is about to have a complete makeover in 2008 which again means this years model will be the old style next year. Also, the engineering on this model is old and desperately needs an update to stay competitive.

4. Reliability- this is a big one affecting both Audi and BMW. since the past 8 years (1999 and up) BMW's have had serious electrical problems. (Please read comsumer reports no the mile long complaint list about problems plaguing BMW and Audi) Stories from power seats pushing drivers into the steeringwheel while driving to nav/audio functions just going black. And thats just the electrical side. If you do decide to choose one of these vehicles, lease it so that when the engine fails at 50k miles, you will not be stuck with a $12k bill. Also, it seems the problems are getting worse no doubt due to cost cutting measures to hedge against the high flying euro in order to stay competitive against the Japanese and American makes. I have heard recently of engine failure within 60k miles on 3.0l engines and its not uncommon to hear of failure on M3 or M5 engines within 15k miles along with rear subframe seperation failure on all modells within 40k miles.
