The intake manifold must be allowed to cool, so painting is not a good idea (unless you use paint that conducts heat). Your intake manifold is made of aluminum which will dissipate heat through the surrounding air. Paint is not a good conductor of heat, so the manifold will not be able to cool properly.

Your engine produces more power when you have cool/cold air. Hot air has a lower density than cold air, so with a constant volume, you get fewer air molecules into the combustion chamber. Since the air is mixed with gas at a constant ratio, you get less fuel, which gives you less power when the compressed mixture is ignited. Cool/cold air gives you more molecules of air and more fuel for combustion. This is the principle behind intercooling a turbocharged engine - also same principle for aftermarket intake systems and dry ice systems.

Your trade off for a good looking intake manifold is lower power. Form vs function?

Good luck!

Painting won't matter. If you remove the part to paint it be sure to use new gaskets!

Careful with the intake air hoses. They are old an may be brittle. Even a tiny air leak will cause your car to run poorly.
