I've run across a BMW 2002 (1974), one of my all-time favorite automobiles, that has been sitting for several years. It was running when parked.
The owner wants 500 smackeroos for it.
The body has only minor surface-rust, and the interior is near perfect.
My questions are:
What types of repairs/replacements can I expect?
1) How do I get this car back "up to snuff", mechanically?
2) Is this something a relative "novice" (never done anything more complicated than changing oil, thermostat, etc...) can complete successfully?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

The Classic BMW 2002, anyone?agv
those are nice little cars ,i like that body style, some of the things you will have to do is repair a lot of oil leaks, all the seals will probably be dry rotted on it,and it will leak oil if you get it to start running, other things will be leaky wheel cylinders, anything that has to do with rubber seals will have to be replaced, but it would make an excellent project car.i seen two of those yesterday ,that body style was one of the best, but you can expect to have brake problems from it as well as many leaks, but like i said that would be a good one,be careful though and make sure that rust isn't no worse than it looks to be,rust would be my main concern on that one, other than that id offer him a little less and see if he would take it,good luck on it,hope this helps.
